Thank you Critical Friends!

The Masters of Professional Education (MPed) at Western requires students to create a capstone project to complete the program. During our capstone projects, all MPed candidates actively participated in a "Critical Friends" group. As my colleagues and I developed our capstones, we were able to support and encourage each other with our ongoing work (e.g., websites, presentations, Prezi). While I was creating this site, I relied on my critical friends to view and critique all aspects of this WIX including the layout, image choices, white space, videos posted and of course - the text.
Every week I would post an updated version of the WIX on our collaborative OWL site. Shortly after posting the updates, I would receive new perspectives with clear and specific comments on how to adjust or add to the site. I am so thankful to my critical friends as they helped to maintain my momentum, provided excellent advice and were consistently supportive and reassuring throughout the two months it took to create my capstone.
I now understand first hand the impact of an editor! This site is simply much better because of the knowledge and multiliteracies expertise of my critical friends. With their input, I was able to share my knowledge and experiences effectively so my audience may be motivated to learn more about multiliteracies, try a linoit, and hopefully collaborate with others to improve their practice as well. Thank you CFs!
